Problem-Solving
and Solutions That Work
Treatment begins with a thorough evaluation of the patient's
hearing and often culminates with the fitting of devices that
help improve perception of the sounds the impaired ear is missing.
They include assistive listening devices and hearing aids, including
not only conventional hearing aids, but also programmable and
digital aids that are among the most technologically advanced,
non-surgical hearing devices available today. The aids are selected
with the advice of the audiologist based on the type and degree
of the hearing loss, as well as the lifestyle and listening
needs of each specific patient. We also repair almost all makes
and models of hearing aids, even if they are not dispensed by
our practice, and provide accessories including batteries and
cleaning tools. We can also create special ear molds to help
combat the negative effects of excessive environmental noise,
such as that faced by musicians, and can create plugs that keep
water out of the ears while swimming or bathing.
Newborn
Hearing Screening
Since 2002, all babies born in Missouri must be screened for
hearing loss, and early intervention is crucial to forestall
language deficits and learning problems. Proper diagnosis is
more challenging in babies whose hearing loss falls in the mild
to moderate range, but we have a comprehensive program in place
to screen infants for all ranges of hearing problems.
